COVID-19 Updates

As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic is entering a new and increasingly dangerous phase.  As a department, we are and will continue to do everything we can to keep our patients, staff, and visitors safe.

To stay up with the latest on our Department's plans, you can visit this Box folder.  You can also access this link by clicking on the "COVID-19" tab on header menu.

Coming Soon to an Operating Theater Near You: The Fetal Pillow!

Remember the Fetal Pillow? We talked about it briefly at a previous Faculty Meeting.  Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Neil Seligman, Jenn Truax, Keri Cockman, Stephanie Havens, Dr. Eva Pressman, and others, we have purchased 12 units to try out.

We anticipate that the Fetal Pillow order will come in within the next few weeks.  Upon their arrival, interested faculty and residents will get training on the device.  Those who choose to trial the Fetal Pillow in vivo will be asked to complete a brief experiential survey afterwards, to help us determine if we should order more or not.

Stay tuned for more details!

Patient Education: Urgent Maternal Warning Signs from ACOG

Postpartum Patients will now receive the Urgent Maternal Warning Signs handout as part of their paperwork for discharge.  Nurses will review the handout with them.  You can learn more about this educational project here

In addition to L&D, the Urgent Maternal Warning Signs handouts are available at UOG, SPA, WHP, and COB, and may be helpful in educating antepartum patients about potential complications.

If any members of the Private Practice groups would like copies for their office, they can reach out to Stephanie Havens.

Show Off Your Educational Chops!

As the pandemic continues, so does the increased need and opportunities for advancements in OBGYN e-learning.  Our Department is full of fantastic educators.  Let's share the wealth by inviting residents from around the country to join our lectures, or posting our recorded lectures through Education for All
